About Us Passport for Minors

Passport for a new-born minor child in Colombia/Ecuador

To obtain an Indian Passport for a new-born child, it is essential to first register the child at http://indiancitizenshiponline.nic.in for obtaining the Indian nationality, within one year of the birth of the child. To get a child registered as an Indian national, at least one of the child's parents must be an Indian citizen.

Please Note:

  • If the parents of the child fail to do the registration of the child as an Indian citizen within one year of child's birth, the process to obtain an Indian nationality/passport is subject to a different procedure. The Embassy needs to refer the matter to the authorities in India to get clearance as to whether the Embassy can issue the Birth Registration/Certificate to the child and the application for child's Indian Passport can only be processed further when the child has got an Indian nationality Certificate from the Embassy.
  • In order to get a passport for a new-born baby, the parents must apply for a Certificate of Entry of Birth of an Indian National under Miscellaneous Services, as a separate service (Click here for Miscellaneous form)
