About Us Death of Indian Nationals Abroad

IN ALL CASES PLEASE: 

  • Fill out Online Application form for Miscellaneous Consular Indian Services: https://indianconsularservices.mea.gov.in/consularServices/FrontPage
    • i. Select as Country, Colombia (for both Ecuador and Colombia residents).
    • ii. Select as Mission, Colombia-Bogota (for both Ecuador and Colombia residents).
  • Documents in Spanish shall be translated into English

For Sending mortal remains to India

  • Fill out Online Application form for Miscellaneous Consular Indian Services as conveyed.
  • For sending mortal remains of the deceased to India for last rites, Death Certificate in original with one photocopy, a letter from mortuary stating that the body has been embalmed properly and sealed in a casket, as per international norms should be sent.
  • The original passport of the deceased along with the above relevant documents should be sent to the Embassy for cancellation. The detailed procedure for dispatch of mortal remains and any other information can be obtained from the Embassy at email Consular.bogota@mea.gov.in and visa.bogota@mea.gov.in or Tel No. (601) 6373259

For Sending mortal remains of a victim of murder/accident  to India

  • Fill out the Online Application for Miscellaneous Consular Indian Services as conveyed.
  • For sending mortal remains of the deceased by accident/murder to India for last rites, Death Certificate in original with one photocopy, the Police report stating cause of death officialy translated into English and a letter from mortuary stating that the body has been embalmed properly and sealed in a casket, as per international norms should be sent and all proper documents issued by uthorities concernign investigation 
  • The passport of the deceased along with the above relevant documents should be sent to the Embassy for cancellation. For Sending Ashes to India

  • Fill out the Online Application for Miscellaneous Consular Indian Services as conveyed.
  • Death Certificate and a copy along with a letter from the cremation site stating that the urn contains only cremated remains of the deceased and it has been sealed properly as per international norms should be got attested by the Embassy.
  • The original passport of the deceased along with the above relevant documents should be sent to the Embassy for cancellation.
All Indian nationals residing in Colombia and Ecuador are requested to please Register with Embassy by providing your details.
