Advisory: Refund Policy for Consular Services
General Policy: Consular fees are charged for various services such as Visa applications, Passport services, Attestations, OCI services and other miscellaneous consular matters. As per the guidelines of the Government of India, Consular fees are non-refundable once an application is accepted and processed, irrespective of the outcome of the service request. (Note : Before making any payment, please refer to the Embassy’s fee structure for the required service. Ensure that payments are made strictly as per the specified amounts for consular services and deposited into the respective bank accounts. In case of any doubt or clarification, kindly contact the Embassy before proceeding with the payment.)
- Refund Scenarios: Refunds may be considered under exceptional circumstances:
(a) Duplicate Payment: Excess or duplicate payments for the same service may be refunded after verification.
(b) Technical Error: Unintended charges due to technical errors (e.g., online payment failure) may be processed.
(c) Payment Made in Error: Refunds may be considered if payment was made for an inapplicable service and the application hasn't been processed.
- Non-Refundable Situations: Refunds will not be provided for:
- Rejected visa or consular service after due processing
- Withdrawal of application by the applicant after submission.
- Errors or omissions in the application leading to rejection or return.
- Change of purpose or decision by the applicant after payment.
- Any other situation not covered under the "Refund Scenarios".
- Refund Procedure:
(a) Submit a written request to the Embassy via email at consular.bogota@mea.gov.in with cc to visa.bogota@mea.gov.in including reason for refund, proof of payment, copy of application and other Supporting documents (if any).
(b) Requests will be verified and processed upon approval by the competent authority.
(c) Refunds, once approved, will be made via the same mode of payment or as directed by the administrative authorities.
(d) The Embassy will endeavor to settle claims within 7 working days of receipt.
- Time Limit: Applications must be submitted within 3 months from the date of payment. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of the fee and a new payment will be required. No refund claims will be entertained after 3 months from the date of payment.
- Authority & Final Decision: Refund requests are subject to verification and approval by the competent authority. The Embassy's decision shall be final and binding.
