POLICE CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE (PCC)
FOR FOREIGN NATIONALS

General Information

A Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) may be issued to foreign nationals requiring certification regarding their stay/residence in India.

PCC applications under this category may generally be submitted by:

• Foreign nationals who stayed/travelled in India on a foreign passport; or
• Foreign nationals of Indian origin who previously held Indian citizenship/passport and require PCC for the period during which they were Indian citizens.

Applicants are advised to carefully read the instructions below before applying.

Important Information

• PCC is issued only after receipt of requisite clearances from the concerned authorities in India.
  • Processing time may vary depending upon verification requirements and response from concerned authorities in India.
  • Applicants are advised to apply well in advance.
  • There is no emergency PCC service.
  • Submission of incomplete applications/documents may result in delay or rejection of application.
  • Foreign nationals presently residing in India and requiring Police Clearance Certificate for their stay/residence in India are generally required to obtain such certificate from the concerned District Police authorities or the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) at the place of residence in India. Copies of such certificates may thereafter be attested by the Indian Mission/Post abroad upon production of the original document.

Categories of PCC Applications for Foreign Nationals

(A) Foreign Nationals who travelled/stayed in India on Foreign Passport

Documents generally required:

• PCC Application Form as per Annexure-I
• Personal Particulars Form (PP Form) as per Annexure-II
• Current valid foreign passport (original and copy)
• Passport containing Indian visa/entry-exit immigration stamps relating to stay in India
• Copy of Indian visa (if applicable)
• Proof of current address/residence in Colombia or Ecuador
• Valid visa/residence permit for Colombia/Ecuador (for foreign residents)
• Recent photograph
• Applicable fee

(B) Foreign Nationals who were previously Indian Citizens

Documents generally required:

• PCC Application Form as per Annexure-I
• Personal Particulars Form (PP Form) as per Annexure-II
• Current foreign passport (original and copy)
• Cancelled Indian passport (original and copy)
• Surrender Certificate / Renunciation Certificate (if applicable)
• Certificate of acquisition of foreign nationality/citizenship
• Proof of current address/residence
• Recent photograph
• Applicable fee

Application Procedure

Step 1 – Prepare Application (Form Annexure-I and Annexure-II)

Applicants should ensure that all required documents are complete before submission.

Step 2 – Pay Applicable Fee

Step 3 – Submit Application

Applications may be submitted at the Embassy during Consular timings.
