Guidelines for OCI Card Re-issuance, Updation and 
Other Misc. Services

(A) Re-issuance: An OCI cardholder shall have to get the OCI card re-issued once when a new Passport is issued after completing 20 years of age so as to capture his/her facial features on attaining adulthood. For this purpose, the OCI cardholder shall submit an online application under OCI Miscellaneous Services https://ociservices.gov.in/onlineOCI/ with a fees as per OCI Fees Chart https://www.eoibogota.gov.in/page/oci-fees/ .  

(B)  ONLINE UPDATION IS SUFFICIENT (RE-ISSUE OF OCI CARD IS NOT NEEDED): 

  • An OCI cardholder has to update the OCI card each time a new Passport is issued irrespective of age except the case of re-issuance of OCI card as mentioned above.

  • For this purpose, the OCI cardholder has to upload a copy of the new Passport containing the photo of the Passport holder and also a latest photo on the online system under OCI Miscellaneous services. These documents may be uploaded by the OCI cardholder within three months of receipt of the new Passport. This service will be provided on Gratis basis.

  • In case of OCI cardholders registered under section 7A(1)(d) of the Citizenship Act, 1955, OCI cardholder and his/her Indian/OCI cardholder spouse shall, in addition to the documents mentioned above, give a declaration that their marriage is still subsisting. Copy of the Indian passport of the Indian spouse/ Passport and OCI card of the OCI cardholder spouse shall also be uploaded in such cases.

  • Immediately on uploading of the documents, an email will be auto sent by the system to the OCI Cardholder confirming that the documents have been successfully uploaded.

  • There will be no restriction on the OCI cardholder to travel to/from India during the period from the date of issue of new Passport till the date of final acknowledgment of his/her documents in the online system.

  • In cases where an OCI cardholder travels without updating their valid Passport details, Immigration Authorities may issue an oral warning and affix a stamp in the OCI card requiring compliance within one month or before departure from India whichever is earlier.

(C) OCI Miscellaneous Services: Before submitting your application, please carefully review the general instructions related to Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cards available at https://ociservices.gov.in/onlineOCI/. Kindly note if there is name change in current Passport or Nationality, get your OCI card reissued using chargeable services. While submitting application for re-issuance of OCI card, the following documents will be required for uploading in the OCI Portal:

(i) In case of issuance of new Passport (as applicable): Copy of OCI card presently held by the applicant, copy of new passport and copy of old passport.

(ii) In case loss of OCI card: A copy of police complaint lodged, copy of OCI card (lost). If the report is in foreign language (other than English) the same may be enclosed with authorized translation. (The person may be called for Personal interview as well in such cases).

(iii) In case of change of personal particulars: Copy of the document (s) relevant for effecting requisite changes. Sufficient proof for each requested services like change of name, address, occupation etc. is to be furnished.
