Issuance of PAP/RAP through e-FRRO Portal

A foreigner is not normally allowed to visit a Protected/Restricted Area unless it is established to the satisfaction of the Government of India that there are extraordinary reasons to justify such a visit. Foreign nationals planning to visit certain Restricted or Protected Areas in India require a Restricted Area Permit (RAP) or Protected Area Permit (PAP) which can be obtained through the e-FRRO portal. Currently, protected areas are located in the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Rajasthan, Sikkim, and Uttarakhand. Additionally, the entire Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar Islands and part of Sikkim have been declared as restricted areas.

Foreigners can apply for PAP/RAP permits through the e-FRRO portal (https://indianfrro.gov.in/efrro/home ) . It is essential to follow the guidelines and procedures outlined by the Government of India. All PAP/RAP permits are issued electronically and no physical permits are provided. Foreigners must apply for PAP/RAP at least 15 days in advance if already residing in India and ensure necessary approvals are obtained at least 30 days in advance if planning to visit these areas.
