NOTICE

Launch of electronic Overseas Citizen of India (e-OCI) Cards

The Government of India has launched the electronic Overseas Citizen of India (e-OCI) Card in place of the physical OCI Card for new applicants as well as existing OCI cardholders possessing physical OCI booklets.

2. The following are the salient features of the e-OCI Card: 

(a) The e-OCI Card was launched on 30 June 2026 for both new applicants and existing OCI Cardholders holding physical OCI booklets.

(b) The e-OCI Card incorporates enhanced security features and has been integrated with all Immigration Check Posts (ICPs) in India.

(c) Holders of the e-OCI Card are not required to carry a physical copy of the OCI Card while undergoing immigration clearance or availing other OCI-related services.

(d) The e-OCI Card may be downloaded by logging into the OCI Portal (https://ociservices.gov.in ) or through the official 'Indian Visa Su-Swagatam' mobile application.

(e) Existing physical OCI booklets shall continue to remain valid and will be accepted for immigration clearance and all other associated services.

3. It is hereby informed that henceforth, only the digital OCI Card (e-OCI) will be issued to all new OCI applicants as well as existing OCI cardholders applying for an OCI Card.
